Fold-Up Doors
The automatic fold-up doors for waste treatment plants, speed up the waste unloading phases.

Depending on the internal loading of the tanks, a flashing light signals to the tipping vehicles, the unloading area with the automatic opening of the doors

AMA S.p.A. is the largest operator in Italy in the integrated management of environmental services. With 7,800 employees, the company serves a total audience of 2,873,976 people. The area of operation covers an area of 1,285 square kilometers, from which approximately 1,780,000 tons of waste are collected annually. AMA S.p.A. has built and manages several waste treatment sites: two plants for the production of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) located in the Rocca Cencia and Salario plants; two plants for the selection of multi-material deriving from separate waste collection, one in Rocca Cencia and Salario, the other in the Pomezia plant; a plant for the production of quality compact waste in Maccarese; a plant for the thermal valorization of special hospital waste in the Ponte Malnome plant.

In the Rocca Cencia Plant Pole, the “Integrated Urban Waste Treatment and Valorization System” includes two facilities: the Multi-material Selection Plant from Separate Waste Collection and the Sorting and Treatment Plant for Unsorted Waste, which can treat up to 750 tons of waste per day. In this plant, the waste collection tank has several unloading accesses for dump trucks and significant daily handling.

The unloading of waste by the vehicles is regulated according to the internal loading of the tank. For a total remote control and to speed up the unloading phases, the new COIL automatic opening systems have been adopted in the different compartments, with high speed fold-up doors and remote controls.

 

CHALLENGE

  • to automate the openings of the compartments providing access to the discharge tanks
  • to ease access to the tanks and the unloading of waste from dump trucks
  • to adopt a remote control system for the opening of the compartments
    to reduce waste unloading times

    SOLUTION

  • COIL high speed fold-up door Model PIC, with reinforced curtain and galvanized steel structure, for maximum durability
  • Custom sized doors and opening speed, to allow fast unloading by dump trucks
  • Traffic light signals placed at each entrance, remotely controlled, which indicate to vehicles which unloading bay to use
